All dogs require some sort of grooming, whether it is the occasional brushing at home or the whole nine yards with a professional groomer. Not only does it help your pet to look his or her best, it also improves their overall hygiene. Brushing removes the loose hair or fur while simultaneously alerting you to any odd skin bumps or wounds. Regular ear cleaning helps to prevent infections and reduces offensive odors. Teeth brushing reduces “doggy breath” and removes tartar buildup. Regular nail trimming allows for a normal gait, and also decreases the number of unintentional scratches you recieve while playing!
Although some dogs are more tolerant than others during these procedures, it’s never too late to start with your furry friend. Just remember to take it slow and make it is as enjoyable as possible for your pet (think treats)! If it doesn’t go well on your own, you can ask a professional groomer for some help.

Just look at those happy poodle eyes!
Sondra at Windy Mountain Farm in Peru generously donated hours of time for Brooks’ spa day. We greatly appreciate her work (and so does Brooks)!
